I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior. ~Hippolyte Taine

Welcome to the official Orchard Animal Outreach blog, and my first foray into the world of  blogging. I thought long and hard about what to call it. Possibilities included: The Vet's Lament, Weekly Rant, Whine and Hard Cheese Corner, but in the end, I changed my mind. Don't get me wrong, there will be plenty of lamenting, ranting and whining, but that won't be all.

I hope it will be a forum to get people thinking, to introduce new ideas, encourage new action. Just like our Facebook page, there will be some things that are uncomfortable to look at or think about, but just not looking doesn't make them go away. Sometimes it takes being nudged beyond our comfort zones to get us moving.

But there will also be triumphs among the tragedies, hopefully enough to keep us all going, because that's what we run on, hope.

Future topics will include but not be limited to:

Compassion fatigue, a real thing.

Vet's laments.

Animal shelters, who are they really sheltering?

No Kill initiatives, fact vs fiction.

Just to name a few. So we hope you become regular readers, we hope to inspire, stir things up, maybe even get some of you mad. Remember we are the same folks that brought you "No BS Spay and Neuter" and we still take a no nonsense approach when it comes to animals.

Thank you Dr. Hines for all you do!!! I agree ALL cats are loving adoptable animals. I see so many we release become very sociable and they ALL just want love. Often choosing love over the food. Once loved they will eat. I see my sisters old cat many keep telling us has come to the end of his life and it might just be his time", yet they don't see him beg for love or stalk and chase the young cats. They don't see him open a bag of treats or sneak in for a luck of cheese off my sandwich. He will tell me when it is his time. Until then he will be loved for all the love he gave in his younger years.

I am really excited on the future topics that will be discussed in this blog. I am indeed looking forward to see how the following topics are going to be discussed. I know for sure that I would be able to get new ideas on the following areas. I want to emphasize my excitement on the topic about the Vet's laments. My best friend is a vet you see and I know she will be excited on this as well.
